Updates & Upgrades | LikeMinds

Hi There,

We are almost halfway through the year and it’s been a buzzing 5 months at LikeMinds. We are here to share an update on what we have deployed in our latest release with some information on what to expect in the coming months:

Feed SDK Has The Following Features Now:

  1. Feed v2: A further updated version of the feed that can be fully customized at a component level in a matter of days. Now available on all our UI stacks - Android, iOS (Swift), ReatNative, ReactJS, and Flutter.
  2. Notification feed: A dedicated feed section that displays notifications related to the user's activities, mentions, and interactions with others. This feature is available on all our UI stacks.
  3. Media Handling: No more struggles with video content. Enable an experience at par with media apps. Videos in the feed can automatically start playing when they become visible on the screen and pause when they are scrolled out of view. You will also be able to mute/unmute and seek the videos. This feature is available on Flutter and React Native right now.
  4. Topic feed: Cater better to the users through categorized content. Our feed feature now allows for interest-based categorization and filtering. Enable exploration for your users across tech stacks.
  5. “Post” and “Comments” as variables: Twitter calls them Tweets and replies, and Quora calls them Questions & Answers. With this feature, you can customize what you want to call your objects and we will handle the UI and notifications. This is supported in each stack.
  6. Support for S2S authentication: The feed supports server-to-server (S2S) authentication, which enhances security by allowing secure communication and data exchange between servers without exposing sensitive information to clients. This feature is available on Flutter and ReactJS right now and will be available on all other SDKs by June.
  7. Web support for Flutter: Our Flutter SDK supported iOS and Android apps until now but moving forward we also support the web version. You can now export the same Flutter app for the web version moving forward.
  8. Post approval flow: You can now control each post that goes on the feed. When enabled, each post created by the user will first require the admin's approval before it is visible to everyone. This feature is first available for Flutter and will be available on other stacks later.
  9. Poll in feed: Users can create polls with multiple-choice options. This can be a useful way to gather feedback, opinions, or preferences from a large audience in a quick and engaging manner. This is available in ReactNative and Flutter and will be available in Android in 1st week of June followed by iOS and ReactJS.
  10. Personalized feed (upcoming): Powered by ranking algorithms, the user feeds will update automatically, based on user behavior and interests. Improve user engagement and product experience by customizing experience. This feature will be available in Flutter later this month, followed by other stacks.

In Chat We Have Worked On The Following:

  1. Reduced app size: Optimizations have been made to reduce the overall size of the app, improving download times and reducing storage requirements on devices. You can check the app sizes for each stack here for Chat and Feed.
  2. Edit message: Users can edit their sent messages, allowing them to correct mistakes or clarify their messages.
  3. Member search: Users can now find other members within the chat or group, facilitating easier communication and connection. This feature is available on all stacks now.
  4. Direct Messages v2: This version of the direct message is highly customizable and you will now be able to customize the whole experience within a couple of days. The Upgraded Direct messages feature is available on ReactNative and Flutter.
  5. Group chat v2: This is an updated version of the group chat feature for iOS users. It includes improvements such as better performance, enhanced security, support for multimedia attachments, and other advanced group messaging features. Group chat allows multiple users to participate in a single conversation, making collaborating and communicating with teams or groups easier. It is available for ReactNative and iOS and we are launching it for Flutter and ReactJS in July.
